Let's Make A MESS
Hurt Less. Heal Better.
Our Heart
MESS stands for mental, emotional, and spiritual support. Our mission is to deliver proven skills that help clergy, lay leaders, and community responders care for those struggling and in need of your support.
Your Impact
Transform your desire to help into a proven skill set. Learn to navigate the mess of distress with a protocol that protects your peace while providing care and kindling hope.
How It Works
Every MESS training is built on the 6-Part Protocol© — a practical guide that brings structure to compassion.
This intentional pacing transforms conversations from “fixing” to empowering.
Helpers learn how to:
-
- Show up with compassionate presence
- Lean in to explore for more
- Listen out for deeper concerns
- Provide care by compassionately challenging distorted thinking
- Kindle hope by empowering progress through possibility
- Follow up and/or refer through continued connected care
The protocol builds step-by-step, strengthening both confidence and competence when caring for self and others.
1 Protocol - 2 Toolkits

MES-Stabilization
Learn to provide a compassionate crisis stabilization just minutes, hours, and days following a tragic event.
The Stabilzation toolkit equips Helpers to meet immediate needs and critical concerns while providing mental, emotional, and spiritual stabilization.

MES-Support
Learn to turn quick conversations into moments of meaningful connection.
The Support toolkit equips Helpers to increase awareness, encourage acceptance, and empower heathy decision-making,,,
for them and you.
Who We Train?
Most MESS training participants see themselves in one of two groups:

Professional Helpers
Clergy, counselors, social workers, chaplains, educators, healthcare workers, and others who regularly support people through difficult moments.

Community Support
Parents, friends, volunteers, neighbors, and everyday helpers who want to care well when someone they care about is struggling.
BONUS: "Both/And Experience"
MESS teaches a “Both/And Experience” to care — equipping Helpers with practical skills to care for others while caring for themselves – mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
Because helping others should not come at the cost of losing yourself.
What People Are Saying
I have to say your class was great. I’ve been doing this for a long time but I learned so much and was even challenged to make changes in my old school approach.
I promise you, you will not get bored! I learned so much – more than I thought I would in just two and a half days! I feel better equipped now to support people going through it. Thanks again!
Brilliant course. The skills are things we know but when shown how to effectively coordinate those skills, the outcome is more powerful.
This training was a great experience and really showed me how to listen and analyze what is going on when someone is going through an emotional stressful event.
